Wedding Appraisal FAQ

Why do I need an estimate before I go to the florist/ event designer?
A: This independent subjective assessment enables you to evaluate and compare all the other estimates you receive. For example, when you buy a house, you want to know what the value of the home is before you make an offer, so WA works the same way - we provide you an independent estimate before you chose your florist.
How is the pricing/ appraisal determined?
A: Our comprehensive database software allows us to stay current with wedding decor costs. Our design consultants evaluate each item on the list by counting flowers and supplies, entering them into the system, whereas the software creates the customized PDF estimate. In case a product is not yet in the inventory; the consultant will conduct the necessary research for pricing and availability to generate the most accurate assessment.
Do you offer phone consultations? If you have any questions would anyone call me before the appraisal is completed?
A: Two of our Appraisal Packages offer a phone consultation. If some information is missing from your Premium Appraisal form, we will contact you within 48 hours either by email or phone.
Isn't it important to meet with a designer in person to convey my thoughts and inspiration?
A: Meeting with your local florist or decorator is essential. However, all estimates are based on your inspirational images and questionnaire that you fill out whether you do it in person or online. So, there is no need to meet with a designer, before you get an independent estimate. If you feel more comfortable to talk to the designer in person first, choose one of the Appraisal Packages and we will be happy to assist you.
How do I know that your estimate is accurate for my area/ city?
A: Allow that flowers are coming from the same sources all over the world; there could be a slight difference in local markets. We survey local pricing and availability before we complete any appraisal. We use the standard formulas common for event décor estimation, and it should work for every florist, decorator or stylist. However, every business has a right to establish their own pricing, which we don’t have any control over.
What if my local florist will not honor WA appraisal?
A: We have certified florists and decorators in our network that will happily assist you and accept our appraisal in case your local florist does not.
After I receive my appraisal, do you have any vendors you recommend that will offer the services according to the estimated pricing?
A: If you don’t have anyone particular in mind or cannot find a vendor honoring our appraisal, please let us know, and we will refer you to our elite group of event professionals.

What is the cost of an average wedding?

A: Although there are statistics pointing to an average cost, we feel that there should not be an average wedding cost. Every wedding is unique and the cost depends on the amount and style of reception centerpieces, ceremony structures, flowers and supplies used.

WEDDING DESIGN FAQ

How much should I plan to spend on my wedding decor?
A:It all depends on your own unique personal taste in flowers and wedding style of your dreams. In order to know how much money you need to allocate towards the décor budget, you need to get an idea about the cost of the designs you choose. That is were Premium Appraisal comes in.
Do high centerpieces cost more than low ones?
A: In most cases, yes, because in addition to a larger flower count you also need a riser or pedestal to display the arrangement on. However, sometimes a low arrangement could be just as costly, pending on the flowers and supplies you choose, as well as an overall table design.
Are roses more expensive than other flowers?
A: No, it’s a wrong assumption. Roses are not more costly than most of the other flowers, but garden roses and certain varieties of spray roses are.
Would branches cost less?
A: Not always, it depends on the season and choice of branches. Flowering branches are a good option in spring; curly willow is a good choice all year round and white birch or flocked branches in winter. But you have to consider that most of the very tall arrangements are built on premises, and therefore you have to check with the venue if the additional time required to produce the arrangements on premises is an option. Sometimes venues have multiple events or back-to-back parties and extra time factor might be an issue.
How to keep the cost down?
A: Use flowers that give more volume (for example hydrangea), and seasonal flowers. Upon your visit to a florist/ decorator ask if they stock any supplies (risers, pedestals, candle holders, etc.) that can be used for discounted cost for your wedding. Usually, the in-house items cost less than outside rentals due to additional delivery and pick up charges.
Are there any extra/ or additional charges that I should be aware of (such as delivery or set up fees) from florists and designers?
A: Yes, usually there is. Wedding setups and breakdowns are time-consuming and waiting time is a significant factor. Each event is different and requires a detailed assessment. We appraise delivery and set up fees based on the average % vs. overall estimate amount. However, vendors will be able to adjust the prices according to their local circumstances.
