Where do I start?

When it comes to wedding, we all know our goal. We want to have a beautiful event, spend fabulous time with our guests, enjoy the delicious food and make sure we have captures for memories. So where do we start? I’m not going to bore you with planning advice. There is an overwhelming amount of information available that can take you step-by-step. I want to concentrate on the décor part, the field whereas I have 20 years of experience and knowledge.

Most likely by now, you have envisioned how your dream wedding would look. Probably you have style and colors in mind. Obviously, you will spend time on Pinterest or Instagram sites, or you will come across some interesting blogs that give you unique ideas. Now you need to know how much of your budget will you need to allocate towards your décor. My advice, don’t go by “ typical spending %.” Honestly, there shouldn’t be an average. You are not an average bride. Be yourself, do what is necessary for you!

Collecting information is the first step. You have to create, what we call, a “Wish List” – number of bouquets, corsages and boutonnieres, ceremony and reception items. If you like simple décor, then don’t go crazy looking for elaborate centerpieces, instead, find elegant arrangements that would fit your style and budget. How would you know the price difference? Well, besides the apparent difference in size of the arrangements, you wouldn’t. You need to get educated. You got to be prepared!

As an event designer, I always shared information with my clients. I didn’t want them to be in the dark and blindly trust every word I say. We talked about flower seasons and availability, which flowers to use in particular arrangements. I always explained why the prices for an event are higher and many other aspects of the wedding décor. My clients appreciated the honesty and trusted me with the most important day of their lives.
